Year 6 Trip - Junior Citizenship Trip

Year 6 attended another trip this week - Year 6 Junior Citizenship scheme at Shadwell Fire Station, which aims to provide information and advice for Years 6s as they transition to secondary school.

Some of the agencies involved included:

Active Travel, Journey Planning, Safe Train and Bus Travel

Fire Safety in the home, how to prevent fires, what to do in an emergency

Basic First Aid, what to do in an emergency, recovery positions.

  • Metropolitan Police Service - Local Youth Engagement Officers

Knife Crime, the dangers of knives, and staying safe around this subject, also covering Gangs, and the dangers of Gangs and the warning signs of gang recruitment.

  • Metropolitan Police Service – Mounted Unit

Robbery scenario, what to do in the unfortunate event of having your school bag taken.

  • Leyton Orient Football Club

Anti-Discrimination scenario on the effects of stereotyping.



Substance Awareness Talk, on the dangers of certain substances.

The children found the sessions informative and fun!
